about
I wrote this song for my dad. He was recently diagnosed with stage IV brain cancer and was laid up in the hospital this past father's day 2017. This was my gift to him, a small token of gratitude. I wrote and recorded it at home in Show Low, AZ. It was one of those songs that kind of wrote itself, it took about 10-12 hours total from the first word on the page to the recording I have up here. Just click buy or whatever and enter 0.00 if you want it for free. Thanks for listening. Much love. Now go hug your loved ones and forgive one another. Right now. Seriously.
lyrics
Old man, I’m a lot like you
Taught me everything you knew
How to work hard, how to be fair,
how to be humble, the power of prayer
Showed me the blood, sweat, and tears of life,
Showed me the value of a loving wife
Now you’re all laid up in bed,
full of medicines that’ve been messing with your head
C:
Everybody’s got a story to tell,
and your’s aint over yet,
it's just the part where you get well
Stay strong, 'cause this pain can never last
And don’t worry, for all this too shall pass
V2:
Old man, you’re a young man too
there was never a thing that you couldn’t do
So try to relax, try to be still,
Stress is a drug and you’ve had your fill
You given so much for our family,
We’ve leaned on you, now you can lean on me
Don’t be so hard on yourself
God’s forgiving, and your love is your wealth
C:
Everybody’s got a story to tell,
and your’s aint over yet,
it's just the part where you get well
Stay strong, 'cause this pain can never last
And don’t worry, for all this too shall pass
